Armed Forces Aid Campaign is a special project of The Retired Enlisted Association’s Memorial Foundation. The Retired Enlisted Association (TREA) was created during the Vietnam War when a group of military retirees realized that many vets and military retirees were being forgotten by our nation. A few years later TREA was honored to receive the rare privilege of a Congressional Charter. Over 45,000 military retirees in all 50 states and from all branches of the military belong to TREA today and the Association has some 65 chapters across the nation.
The Foundation is TREA’s charitable arm and our mission is to help active duty military, our Iraq and Afghanistan wounded, our veterans and our military families. More than 400,000 members of the general public support our work and it is thanks to them that we are able to make a difference. The Foundation is a 501c3 organization and your gift is fully tax deductible. We receive no government funds.
Our Board of Directors is made up of unpaid volunteers who are themselves military retirees and we go to great lengths to make sure the help we provide is effective and timely.

| A Heartfelt Thank You
The Foundation serves the real needs of our veterans at home and our soldiers overseas. We keep in touch with soldiers overseas at various bases, and we hear that soldiers need hygiene items, prepaid phone cards, or snacks for on the go. Before we send anything, we ask exactly what they need.
Recently we had a special request – for a bicycle from a military chaplain stationed in Iraq. Stationed on a sprawling desert base, he told us: “I had to walk (if off duty and outside the hospital) 20 minutes in 120+ degree heat... and walk in the suffocating swelter of body armor, in order to arrive, usually late, at the helicopter pad, so I could greet in-coming wounded, as they were being off-loaded from Medivac flights. Twenty minutes, in terms of pastoral response time, was much too long. Often I missed greeting the wounded and praying with them before surgery.”
So we sent two bicycles to the base in Iraq for chaplains to use. Donations from concerned Americans like you helped
make a difference for many wounded soldiers being rushed in from the field. A few moments of prayer
before surgery that they may not have had if the chaplain hadn’t been able to make it in time.
Having the bikes cut down the chaplain’s travel time from 20 minutes to 5 minutes across base! The chaplain later told us that he didn’t think we’d be able to send the bikes, since they were so big and shipping is costly and difficult. He told us, “Now…I arrive BEFORE the wounded land and therefore have time to pastor and pray with them before surgery… Thanks, TREA, we all owe you a debt of gratitude.”
We’d like to reply to the chaplain and all other soldiers and veterans who have thanked us for the aid we’ve sent over the
years:
On behalf of the Foundation and its members, we’d like to say, “Thank you!” to all the soldiers serving our country at home and overseas. We owe YOU the debt of gratitude for keeping us and our country safe!
